The rivers of Nunatsiavut and
northern Labrador's Torngat National Park are home to the
harlequin duck. Labradorians and Newfoundlanders call these rare
birds lords and ladies due to their royal colours. Canada's
newest national park and the people of the coast play a key role
in protecting this curious and approachable sea duck. This photo
of eastern harlequins is courtesy of writer and photographer Ken
Knowles.
