Wildland Tours

Who we Are

Wildland Tours accomplishes its mission by inviting travellers from around the world to experience the whales, seabirds, and other wildlife of this place. We strive to offer exceptional customer service experiences while providing respectful, sustainable, educational, and enjoyable excursions.

Our late company president, David Snow, began the Wildland Tours initiative on June 3, 1984; incorporated as Wildlands and Oceans Limited in 1986. Ann Simmons, Operations Manager, Dave’s right arm for so many years, passionately continues to bring Wildland Tours’ mission to fruition and sits on many related committees and boards in the province.

Our Commitment

Wildland Tours is a continual, active supporter of many environmental charities and sustainable tourism organizations. Since 1989, our sister retail operation, Wild Things, has donated a minimum annual $500 scholarship to the province’s oldest conservation organization, Nature NL, for a deserving post-secondary student showing leadership in the area of environmental awareness and protection.

As the cliché goes, we leave nothing behind but footprints. We take special care not to disturb the whales, seabirds, and other wildlife we enjoy on our holidays. In fact, Wildland Tours has been an industry leader in educating boat tour operators about whale and bird harassment. We travel in smaller groups in order not to stress the animals or impact the environment. As well, we try our very best to reduce our carbon footprint by touring in smaller vehicles while still allowing for the comfort of our guests on small, gentle excursions.

Wildland Tours and its late president Dave Snow, have received numerous awards over the years recognizing their pioneering initiatives in eco-tourism, expedition cruise ships, whale and dolphin research, and as one of the world’s leading adventure tour operators. Dave’s involvement was integral in the development of guidelines for the Canadian eco-tourism industry.
